Example 2: Building Slow/Relaxing Energy to Balance Your Energy.

This example explains why a trainer slowly walks his horse around the track after a race--to balance the horse’s energy.
Show: A picture of a balance scale.
Tell: This is a picture of a balance scale. Notice how there are two plates with wires connected to opposite sides of the bar above.
The picture shows that the scale is balanced because both plates are the same distance from the table.
If you put a weight on the left plate, it would be heavier than the right. The left plate would sink, lifting up the right plate, and the two sides of the scale would be unbalanced. By removing the weight on the left side, your scale would become balanced again.
Tell: HAVE FUN! Make your own balance scale. Be creative! What an excellent idea for a science project!
See how many different kinds of balance scales you can find.
Have fun using the following example of the water faucet.
Show: The picture of a water faucet with one red handle on the left for hot water and one blue handle on the right for cold water.
Tell: When you turn on both the hot and cold handles equally, the water temperature becomes warm. Water that is too hot is a stress; Water that is too cold is a stress. Warm water is balanced and stress-free.
Tell: Check the faucets in different homes and buildings. Have fun seeing the differences between them; this too could be a science project demonstrating the science of balancing.
Exercise 2 (Balancing your Energy, Calming down your Energy.) Gently tap your arms, legs, head and chest with your finger tips to energize your nerve endings in a peaceful, quiet, restful way. To quiet your energy to a relaxing energy (balance your energy after the exercise described above), sing a children’s song as you “walk” your fingers up and down your arms The itsy bitsy spider climbed up the water spout. Down came the rain and washed the spider out. Out came the sun and dried up all the rain And the itsy bitsy spider climbed up the spout again.
For Adults: The average adult will benefit by singing this song slowly as he or she slowly uses fingers climbing up the arms. (With all the stress in the work place as well as rearing children in this toxic world, harassed parents need something to help their muscles relax). Example 3 is a breathing exercise similar to one taught to people with emphysema. Anyone with serious breathing problems will benefit by following that system -- breathing in to the count of 2 and breathing out to the count of 4. Later in the program you will discover why people who do not have serious breathing problems should use the following plan to breathe in to the count of 3 and out to the count of six. Be Patient: As you proceed with more practice, your body will recognize what you need. You cannot learn everything at once, but after you feel comfortable practicing these exercises, you'll begin to learn how helpful they are in dealing with stress.
